The 2010 Mitsubishi Lancer Sportback has 5 recalls, the most serious involving a front control arm that can detach from the vehicle, causing a sudden loss of steering and directional control.
A second structural concern involves the drive belt tensioner, which can crack and allow the accessory belt to come free. When that happens, the battery stops charging and the engine can stall without warning. On the visibility side, the sunroof glass on vehicles equipped with that option can separate from its assembly while driving and become a hazard for other vehicles on the road. The electrical recalls cover two related concerns: unstable voltage can cause the headlights, taillights, and windshield wipers to cut out intermittently, and a failing blower motor can reduce the effectiveness of the windshield defroster, limiting the driver's ability to see clearly in cold or wet conditions.
