The 2013 Mitsubishi Outlander has 5 recalls, the most serious being a front control arm that can detach from the vehicle and cause a sudden, complete loss of steering and directional control.
Vehicles with a 6-speed automatic transmission also have a recall for power steering fluid that can leak from the hydraulic lines, reducing or eliminating steering assist and making the vehicle significantly harder to steer. Two recalls cover the windshield wiper system: water that gets between the hood and windshield can corrode the wiper linkage until it separates and the wipers stop moving, and the same water intrusion can reach the wiper motor's internal components, causing the motor itself to fail. Both wiper issues leave the driver without front wiper function in wet conditions.
