The 2018 Porsche Macan has 5 recalls, the most serious involving a fuel pump cover that can crack the fuel pump's filter flange, causing a fuel leak that raises the risk of fire.
The rear seat belts present a separate safety concern: the screw anchoring the outboard rear seatbelt to the seat frame may not have been properly tightened at the factory, and that anchor can pull free in a crash, leaving rear passengers without effective restraint. On the electrical side, a control unit may fail and knock out dashboard warning displays while also potentially impairing the vehicle's ability to drive normally or respond correctly after a collision. There is also an airbag concern: the sensor mat beneath the front passenger seat can degrade over time and stop detecting that someone is sitting there, which means the front passenger airbag may not deploy in a crash. Finally, on vehicles fitted with the optional ski bag, the bag can break loose during a crash and become a projectile inside the cabin.
