The rollaway risk occurs when the vehicle is exited without the transmission fully in Park and without the parking brake applied, leaving nothing to hold the car in place on a slope or level surface. The electrical short is a separate concern that creates a fire risk without any mechanical warning a driver would likely notice. On the lighting side, the headlights on certain vehicles may be aimed incorrectly from the factory, either leaving too little road illuminated ahead or throwing glare into the eyes of oncoming drivers, both of which reduce reaction time in low-light conditions.
