The 2021 Porsche Taycan 4S has 6 recalls, the most serious being a high-voltage battery defect where an internal short circuit can start a fire.
Three separate filings cover this same battery short circuit risk, and prior repair attempts did not fully resolve the issue. Alongside the battery concern, a retaining ring at the top of the front suspension strut can work loose, allowing the strut to dislodge and the air spring to lose pressure, which can cause a sudden loss of handling and control. On the charging side, using the compact charging cable with a standard 220V/240V home outlet at the 100% charge setting can overload the outlet and overheat both the outlet and the cable, raising the risk of fire at the point where the car plugs in. There is also a minor safety system issue: when a passenger is riding unbelted, the seatbelt warning light and chime may fail to activate, leaving that passenger without a reminder to buckle up.
