The 2020 RAM 2500 has 7 recalls, the most serious being a transmission fluid leak on trucks equipped with the 6.7L Cummins diesel and 68RFE automatic transmission, where fluid can contact the turbocharger or other hot engine components and start a fire. A separate occupant safety concern involves the side curtain airbag inflators, where the end cap can detach or the inflator sidewall can rupture, sending metal fragments into the cabin in a crash. On the structural and visibility side, trucks equipped with an accessory bed step may have a step that collapses unexpectedly under load, raising the risk of a fall. The driver-side rearview mirror glass can also detach entirely, reducing rear visibility. Windshield wiper arms on certain trucks can loosen and cause the wipers to move poorly or stop clearing the windshield in rain or snow. There is also a software issue in the anti-lock brake module where the electronic stability control warning light may fail to illuminate when the system has a problem, leaving the driver unaware that stability control is not functioning properly.
