2016 RAM PROMASTER Recalls — Canada & USA

The 2016 RAM ProMaster has 11 recalls, the most serious involving a transmission pump that can seize and cut drive power, a cooling fan motor that can overheat and catch fire, and a shifter cable that can disconnect so the gear indicator no longer reflects the actual gear engaged. On the electrical side, a low-voltage harness connector near the driver's seat can corrode from water intrusion, causing the van to shift into neutral unexpectedly or refuse to restart after the engine is shut off. Vehicles with the 3.0L diesel and electronic stability control may have an incorrectly programmed ABS module that can affect braking response, and a separate issue means the stability control system may not reactivate automatically at startup if it was manually switched off. Some ProMasters modified with Freedman GO-ES foldaway seats have a seat back that may not lock upright under load, raising the risk of injury in a sudden stop or crash. A software error in the trailer tow lighting control module can prevent trailer brake lights from illuminating when braking. Two label recalls round out the list: one where sun visors and the owner's manual incorrectly state the vehicle has advanced airbags, and one on certain wheelchair-accessible vehicles where loading and occupancy labels are incomplete and could contribute to overloading.
