2010 Volvo Vhd

The 2010 Volvo VHD has 4 recalls, the most serious involving front ball joints that can corrode and wear to the point of complete steering loss.

Water and contaminants can enter the ball joint seals on the front suspension, causing internal corrosion that gradually destroys the joint. When a ball joint fails entirely, the driver loses the ability to steer the truck. On the brake side, this recall only affects trucks equipped with an air-release fifth wheel: a valve on the frame can be oriented in a way that lets debris and moisture enter through its exhaust port, corroding the valve internally and degrading air brake performance. A truck with reduced braking response at highway speeds carries serious crash risk. There is also a lighting issue on vehicles fitted with snow plow lamp preparation kits, where the snow plow headlights can be switched on while the marker and tail lamps remain off. From outside the truck, it appears much narrower and shorter than it is, reducing visibility to other drivers at night or in low-visibility conditions, and the high beam indicator does not alert the driver when the snow plow high beams are active. Finally, the certification label on some vehicles may list incorrect tire information, which can lead to the truck being loaded beyond its actual safe capacity and raising the risk of a crash.
