The 2016 Volvo VHD has 4 recalls, the most serious involving front suspension ball joints where failed seals allow water and debris to enter, causing corrosion and wear that can eventually result in complete loss of steering control.
Two recalls cover lighting concerns. On trucks equipped with snow plow lamp preparation kits, the snow plow headlights can be switched on independently of the marker and tail lamps, meaning other drivers may not see the truck's sides or rear. Separately, certain trucks may have headlights that do not meet minimum brightness requirements, leaving the road ahead poorly lit at night. There is also a label issue on some trucks where the gross axle weight rating printed on the certification label may be incorrect for the pusher or tag axle, which can lead an operator to overload that axle without realizing it.
