On certain vehicles, long-term exposure to high absolute humidity and temperature, combined with high temperature cycling, could eventually degrade the propellant contained in the passenger frontal airbag. This could cause the airbag to deploy with more force than normal. As a result, if the vehicle were involved in a collision that warrants airbag deployment, fragments could be propelled toward vehicle occupants, and the airbag assembly could be damaged, preventing proper function. These issues could increase the risk of injury.
Safety Risk
No risk description available.
Remedy
Dealers will replace the airbag inflator.

Hyundai Auto Canada is conducting a Product Improvement Campaign that provides an update to the engine control module to detect potential problems before an engine fails. An engine failure would cause a sudden loss of power with an inability to restart.
Note: This only affects certain vehicles equipped with a 2.0 L Nu GDI engine. For the Sonata model, only the Sonata Hybrid and Plug-In Hybrid (PHEV) models are affected by this campaign. All vehicles previously included in TC # 2021-034 are now part of this new campaign.
Safety Risk
A sudden loss of engine power could increase the risk of an accident. An engine failure could also create the risk of a fire.
Remedy
Hyundai will notify owners by mail and advise you to take your vehicle to a dealer to update the software for the engine control module.
Note: Hyundai recommends that you should always follow the correct vehicle maintenance schedule, which is printed in the Owner's Manual. If you experience unusual engine noise, reduced power, or a check engine/oil warning light, Hyundai advises you to immediately visit a Hyundai dealership to have your vehicle diagnosed.

On certain vehicles equipped with a 5.0L engine, the in-tank electric fuel pump may not be correctly activated following a vehicle start-up cycle. The engine may start and continue to operate as normal until the engine fuel demand exceeds the ability for the pump to supply sufficient fuel. The engine can then cut out without warning. Loss of propulsion, in conjunction with traffic and road conditions, and the driver's reactions, could increase the risk of a crash causing property damage and/or personal injury.
Safety Risk
No risk description available.
Remedy
Dealers will reprogram the Engine Control Module.

On certain motorcycles, the hex nut that secures the front drive belt wheel to the gearbox output shaft was torqued to a value less than specification during the vehicle assembly process. As a consequence, the nut could loosen during vehicle operation. If this happens, the belt wheel would itself loosen on the output shaft, resulting in damage to the internal splines of the wheel and to the external splines of the output shafts as the vehicle is operated. Over time, the splines could be damaged to the extent that the output shaft would no longer operate the drive belt, resulting in a loss of drive capability at the rear wheel.
Safety Risk
No risk description available.
Remedy
Dealers will check the torque of the hex nut and adjust is necessary.
