On certain vehicles, a spring in the lost motion spring assemblies in the variable valve timing and lift electronic control (VTEC) system may bind. As a result, the lost motion spring could fracture. In the worst case parts from a broken spring could become caught in the camshaft, causing the engine to stall without the ability to be restarted. Lost propulsion from the engine, in conjunction with traffic and road conditions, and the driver's reactions, may increase the risk of a collision causing property damage and/or personal injury.
Safety Risk
No risk description available.
