On a small number of vehicles, the recall repairs completed by a Ford dealer during recall 25S54 (Transport Canada recall no. 2025-283) may not have been done correctly. As a result, another repair is required.
On certain vehicles equipped with a 2.5 L HEV or PHEV engine, a manufacturing problem could lead to an engine failure. In some cases, an engine failure can create the risk of a fire.
Safety Risk
An engine failure could cause a fire.
Remedy
Ford will notify owners by mail and advise you to take your vehicle to a dealership to update the powertrain control module (PCM) software. Certain vehicles equipped with 460 c.i.d. Engines and 4350-4v carburetors. The secondary throttle lever of the 4350-4v carburetor may experience a "hang-up" condition due to a die misalignment during the die-casting of the throttle body. The secondary throttle plates may remain open after a wide-open throttle application causing the vehicle to accelerate to high speed. The vehicle can be stopped by shifting into neutral and braking or by turning the ignition switch off.
THESE VEHICLES MAY NOT COMPLY WITH C.M.V.S.S. 124 - ACCELERATOR CONTROL SYSTEMS. THE THROTTLE CABLE SUPPORT BRACKETS MAY HAVE EXCESS STOCK, WHICH MAY CONTACT THE THROTTLE LEVER SYSTEM. DURING CERTAIN OPERATING CONDITIONS, THE THROTTLE MAY FAIL TO RETURN IN THE SPECIFIED LENGTH OF TIME.
Safety Risk
No risk description available.
Remedy
THROTTLE CABLE SUPPORT BRACKET WILL BE REPLACED.

On certain 318I and 318IS vehicles, under certain conditions, with low ambient temperatures (-10 degrees and colder) and a warmed-up engine, water vapour in the warm air from the crankcase might condense and freeze in the throttle body. This could prevent the throttle plate from closing as the driver releases the gas pedal and might result in loss of vehicle control.
Safety Risk
No risk description available.
Remedy
Throttle body heater will be replaced with a modified heater.

On certain vehicles, the engine may not have been manufactured properly. As a result, metal debris could cause the crankshaft bearings to fail. If this happens, the engine may run rough or may not start. This could also cause the engine to stall while driving.
Note: This recall only affects certain vehicles equipped with a 3.4L twin-turbo engine.
Safety Risk
A sudden loss of power to the wheels could increase the risk of a crash.
Remedy
The company will notify owners by mail and advise you to take your vehicle to a dealership to replace the engine.
On certain vehicles, the accelerator cable core wire may wear the cable conduit end fitting due to a fifteen degree angle it makes with the conduit at the throttle body end. This could also lead to wear or separation of strands of the core wire, which could prevent the throttle from returning to the idle position. A "stuck" throttle could adversely affect vehicle control.
Safety Risk
No risk description available.
Remedy
Dealers will replace the accelerator cable and throttle body with the revised parts that are currently being used on the 5.4L automatic transmission vehicles.

ON CERTAIN PASSENGER VEHICLES, THE FUEL PRESSURE SENSOR LOCATED ON THE LEFT END OF THE FUEL RAIL MAY, AT TIMES, TRANSMIT INCORRECT SIGNAL REGARDING THE FUEL PRESSURE TO THE ENGINE CONTROL MODULE. IF THE SIGNAL IS OUTSIDE OF THE PRE-PROGRAMMED ALLOWABLE LIMITS, A DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE MAY BE SET AND THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WILL COME ON. THE SOLDERED JOINTS ON THE CIRCUIT BOARD OF THE FUEL PRESSURE SENSOR MAY CRACK DUE TO TEMPERATURE CHANGES AND EXCESSIVE VIBRATIONS.
Safety Risk
MISFIRE MAY OCCUR DURING DRIVING THAT, IN TURN, WILL REDUCE THE ENGINE TORQUE AND IN THE WORST CASE SCENARIO, THE ENGINE MAY STALL WITHOUT WARNING. IN CERTAIN TRAFFIC SITUATIONS THIS COULD CAUSE AN UNSAFE SITUATION AND POSSIBLY A CRASH.
Remedy
DEALERS WILL REPLACE THE FUEL PRESSURE SENSOR FREE OF CHARGE. THE RECALL BEGAN ON JUNE 29, 2007. OWNERS MAY CONTACT VOLVO AT 1-800-458-1552.
