VEHICLE DESCRIPTION: PICKUP TRUCKS WITH A 131 INCH WHEELBASE. SOME OF THESE VEHICLES MAY HAVE BEEN BUILT WITH INADEQUATE CLEARANCE BETWEEN THE FUEL LINE AND THE CAB UNDERBODY.
Safety Risk
THIS CONTACT CAN RESULT IN WEAR, AND AFTER EXTENDED CONTACT, COULD CAUSE A PERFORATION IN THE FUEL LINE, RESULTING IN LEAKAGE. FUEL LEAKAGE IN THE PRESENCE OF AN IGNITION SOURCE COULD RESULT IN A FIRE.
Remedy
DEALERS WILL INSPECT THE VEHICLES FOR PROPER CLEARANCE. FUEL LINES THAT EXHIBIT INADEQUATE CLEARANCE WILL BE REPLACED WITH A REDESIGNED FUEL LINE THAT WILL ASSURE PROPER CLEARANCE.
THE SHORT SECTION OF HIGH PRESSURE FUEL HOSE BETWEEN THE FUEL RAIL AND THE FUEL PRESSURE REGULATOR, WHICH RUNS ALONGSIDE THE INTAKE MANIFOLD, MAY BE SUBJECT TO HARDENING. IN THE EVENT THAT THIS LINE DOES HARDEN, FUEL LEAKS COULD DEVELOP BETWEEN THE HOSE AND METAL PIPE FITTINGS. LEAKING FUEL COULD IGNITE ON THE HOT EXHAUST SYSTEM AND LEAD TO AN ENGINE COMPARTMENT FIRE.
Safety Risk
No risk description available.
Remedy
FUEL HOSE WILL BE REPLACED ON 924S, 944 AND 944 TURBO VEHICLES AND THE FUEL HOSE AND FUEL RAIL WILL BE REPLACED ON 944S VEHICLES.

On certain E-350 and E-450 cutaway vehicles with school bus prep packages and some Econoline E-350 vans, certain frame rail tank guard brackets may have been omitted during vehicle assembly. These brackets are intended to prevent frame edge to fuel tank contact during a vehicle crash. As these vehicles were not evaluated for compliance without the use of brackets, their performance during a vehicle crash is thereby unknown. Should the tank be damaged enough to cause a fuel leak a vehicle fire could ensue, which may result in personal injury or death.
Safety Risk
No risk description available.
Remedy
Dealers will inspect and, if missing, install the brackets.
