The 2020 Audi A5 has 4 recalls, the most serious involving a rear axle lock nut that can break and misalign the rear axle, causing loss of vehicle control.
A related recall covers the same rear axle misalignment issue from a tire wear angle: the misalignment can cause premature or uneven tire wear that raises crash risk over time. On the safety equipment side, the front passenger seat sensor that determines whether the airbag should deploy may fail to classify the occupant correctly, leaving the passenger airbag disabled in a crash. There is also a wiring concern specific to Sportback models: the wiring harness for the rear lights may lack protective covering near the spare wheel well, and in a rear collision the exposed wires can be damaged, disabling the hazard lights and preventing the rear doors from being opened from outside.
