The 2021 Audi A5 has 5 recalls, the most serious involving a rear axle lock nut that can break and misalign the rear axle, causing loss of vehicle control.
The same rear axle misalignment can also cause premature or uneven tire wear over time, which is a separate recall concern. On the electrical side, certain Sportback variants have a wiring harness near the spare wheel well that lacks abrasion protection; in a rear collision, the wires can be damaged, disabling the hazard lights and preventing the doors from being opened from outside the vehicle. There is also a seatbelt concern where a rear seatbelt retractor may not properly secure a child restraint system, raising the risk of injury in a crash. Rounding out the list, the rearview camera display can go blank while reversing, reducing what the driver can see behind the vehicle.
