The 2019 Audi A5 has 5 recalls, the most serious involving rear trailing arm lock nuts that can break and cause a sudden shift in rear wheel alignment, leading to loss of vehicle stability and a crash.
A related recall addresses vehicles where a prior repair did not include a rear wheel alignment check, meaning the steering may pull to one side and tires can wear unevenly. If driven long enough in that condition, a tire can lose air pressure and fail. On the tire side, rear axle misalignment can also cause premature or uneven tire wear that raises crash risk. There is also a passenger airbag concern: the front passenger seat sensor can misread the occupant and disable the passenger airbag, leaving that seat without airbag protection in a crash.
