The 2017 Audi Q7 has 11 recalls, the most serious being a steering shaft bolt that can loosen over time and detach completely, causing total loss of steering control, and a frontal airbag control module that can deploy airbags with excessive force in a crash, raising the risk of injury to occupants.
A fuel system recall covers leaking fuel rails on certain vehicles, where escaping fuel near an ignition source can cause a fire. On the restraint side, the third-row seat back can move forward under the load of a frontal collision, failing to properly hold an occupant, and separate recalls cover airbags and seatbelt pretensioners that may not deploy or activate correctly in a crash. The electric power steering assist can short circuit on a narrow range of vehicles, requiring significantly more steering effort, particularly at low speeds. There is also a lighting recall where a software update may have inadvertently disabled the side marker lights, making the vehicle harder to see at night when the parking lights or headlights are on.
