The 2020 Audi S5 has 5 recalls, the most serious involving a rear axle lock nut that can break and misalign the rear axle, causing loss of vehicle control.
A related issue covers the same rear axle misalignment causing premature or uneven tire wear, which can also raise the risk of a crash. On the safety equipment side, the front passenger airbag sensor can misread the seat occupant and disable the passenger airbag, leaving that seat without airbag protection in a crash. Two recalls address the same underlying wiring concern on Sportback trims: the wiring harness near the spare wheel well lacks protective covering and can be damaged in a rear collision, which may prevent doors from being opened from outside the vehicle and disable the hazard lights, both of which raise the risk of injury after a crash.
