The 2009 BMW 325xi has 3 recalls, the most serious being a driver-side airbag inflator that can explode during deployment, sending sharp metal fragments into the cabin and potentially causing serious injury or death.
This airbag defect applies to vehicles with the original steering wheel as well as those where the original wheel was replaced with a sport or M-sport steering wheel, as both can carry the same dangerous inflator. There is also an electrical concern: wiring and connectors that control airflow for the heating and air conditioning system can overheat and melt, raising the risk of a fire even when the vehicle is parked and unattended.
