The 2011 BMW 330i has 3 recalls, the most serious being a driver-side airbag inflator that can explode during deployment and send sharp metal fragments into the cabin, posing a risk of serious injury or death.
This airbag inflator risk applies to the original steering wheel and also to vehicles where the original wheel was replaced with a sport or M-sport steering wheel, as both can carry the same defective inflator. There is also an electrical concern: wiring and connectors that control airflow for the heating and air conditioning system can overheat and melt, raising the risk of a fire even when the vehicle is parked and unattended.
