2002 BMW 7 SERIES Recalls — Canada & USA

The 2002 BMW 7 Series has 4 recalls, the most serious being a fuel pump defect on 745i and 745Li models where the pump can wear internally and fail to supply enough fuel to the engine when the tank drops to about one-third full or less. On the brake side, a check valve in the brake vacuum pump can leak oil into the brake booster over time, gradually reducing or, in extreme cases, eliminating power-assisted braking. This makes the brake pedal significantly harder to press and increases stopping distances. There is also a software issue affecting 745i and 745Li models where a bug in the engine management system can cause the variable valve timing motors for the two engine banks to fall out of sync, resulting in rough running.
