The 2019 BMW K 1600 GT has 3 recalls, the most serious being a transmission defect where two gears can engage at once, locking the rear wheel and causing a sudden loss of stability.

A separate transmission concern involves the seal on the reverse gear control unit, which can deteriorate and let moisture into the unit. That moisture can cause the unit to overheat and raises the risk of fire. On the suspension side, a link strut connecting the rear suspension to the frame may lack sufficient strength and can break under load, allowing the rear of the motorcycle to contact the rear wheel and destabilize the bike.
