The 2020 BMW K 1600 GTL has 3 recalls, the most serious being a rear suspension link strut that can fracture and allow the rear of the motorcycle to contact the spinning rear wheel, causing sudden loss of stability and control.
The transmission carries two separate concerns. Certain internal transmission components may not have reached the required hardness during production, which can allow two gears to engage at once or cause internal parts to break apart. Either outcome can lock the rear wheel without warning, throwing the bike into an uncontrolled skid. There is also a seal on the reverse gear control unit that can deteriorate and let moisture into the unit, causing it to overheat and raising the risk of a fire in the drivetrain area.
