The 2010 BMW M3 has 4 recalls, the most serious being a defective driver's frontal airbag inflator that can rupture in a crash and send metal fragments into the cabin, causing serious injury or death.
Two separate filings cover this same airbag inflator defect, and prior repair attempts did not fully resolve the issue for all affected vehicles. On the electrical side, the wiring and connectors that control airflow for the heating and air conditioning system can overheat and melt, raising the risk of a fire even when the car is parked and unattended. There is also a concern with the positive battery cable connection at the fuse box, where the terminal can degrade over time and cause intermittent loss of electrical power, which can stall the engine while driving.
