The 2016 BMW X3 has 5 recalls, the most serious being three separate fire risks: an electrical short in the wiring harness connectors, and on diesel models, an EGR cooler that can cause the intake manifold to melt and ignite.
The diesel models also face a high-pressure fuel pump that can fail and stall the engine while driving. These fire and stall risks are specific to the xDrive28d diesel trim. On the safety equipment side, the lower anchor bars used to secure child safety seats can be damaged and may not properly restrain a child seat in a crash. This last recall covers a broad range of X3 production years and applies to both gasoline and diesel trims.
