The 2024 BMW X5 has 7 recalls, the most serious being a brake system defect where the integrated brake unit can lose power assist and disable anti-lock brakes and stability control, significantly extending stopping distances and reducing vehicle control.
The airbag-related recalls account for several of the remaining issues. The driver and front passenger knee airbags may not deploy correctly in a crash, leaving occupants less protected. A separate but related concern affects certain trims: the instrument panel may not be properly secured, and during airbag deployment it can break apart and send pieces into the cabin. Prior repair attempts did not fully resolve the knee airbag deployment issue, which is why it appears across more than one filing. There is also a label recall affecting certain X5 xDrive40i vehicles where the tire information placard lists incorrect tire size and pressure, which can lead to an improperly fitted or inflated tire being installed.
