The 2018 Chevrolet Express has 6 recalls, the most serious being a rear climate control module that can overheat and start a fire in the headliner, and a tire defect where the sidewall can crack or the tread can separate, causing sudden air loss.
On the visibility side, certain vehicles may have tempered glass instead of laminated glass in the rear-quarter windows, which is more likely to shatter in a side impact or rollover and raise the risk of occupant ejection. Some vehicles equipped with ASA Electronics Voyager backup camera monitors display a mirrored image, which can cause a driver to steer the wrong way when reversing around an obstacle. The tire pressure monitoring system on certain configurations is calibrated incorrectly, triggering the low-pressure warning at 37 PSI instead of the correct 41 PSI, giving the driver less time to respond to a pressure drop. There is also a recall covering certain onboard fire extinguishers that may fail to discharge properly when needed.
