The 2016 Chevrolet Express has 6 recalls, the most serious involving two separate fire risks: a rear climate control module that can overheat and ignite the headliner, and a driver's power window switch that can corrode internally and also catch fire.
On the safety glass side, one or both rear-quarter windows may be tempered glass rather than the required laminated glass, which can shatter and increase the risk of occupant ejection in a side impact or rollover. Some vehicles were also equipped with fire extinguishers that may fail to discharge properly when needed. Two lower-severity recalls cover missing equipment: certain cargo and cutaway vans were built without an interior rearview mirror, leaving the driver with a limited view to the rear, and certain incomplete vehicles with a 159-inch wheelbase were shipped to final-stage manufacturers without a tire pressure monitoring system, meaning the driver would receive no warning if a tire became dangerously underinflated.
