The 2017 Chevrolet Silverado 2500 has 5 recalls, the most serious being a fire risk tied to the optional engine-block heater, where an electrical short in the heater cable or its terminals can ignite a fire under the hood.
On vehicles equipped with the optional dual fuel tank, the rear tank can collapse and cut off fuel transfer to the front tank, causing the engine to stall while driving. Two recalls address occupant restraint: the front seatbelt pretensioners and airbags may fail to deploy in a crash, and separately, the front seatbelt retractors were built with the wrong torsion bar and may not restrain occupants properly in a collision.
