The 1999 Ferrari 360 Modena F1 has 5 recalls, the most serious including brake and drivetrain concerns: the anti-lock braking system may stop functioning, and separately, brake and clutch fluid reservoir hoses can degrade and leak, reducing braking efficiency.
The brake hose issue is particularly direct: if the hoses fail, the brake warning light comes on and the car progressively loses stopping power. The ABS control unit defect disables anti-lock braking without warning, though the brake failure light should illuminate. On the drivetrain side, the starter ring gear can fracture or detach from the clutch assembly, which would leave the engine unable to start. Two additional concerns affect crash protection and warning systems: the airbag control unit mounting can weaken over time, potentially preventing the airbag from deploying in a crash, and a software error in the instrument cluster can prevent the electronic brake distribution warning light from illuminating when a brake problem exists, leaving the driver without a key warning.
