Summary
The Genesis G90 has 10 recalls spanning 2017 through 2026 model years, with the most serious recent issue affecting 2023 models where seatbelt pretensioners can explode during a crash and send metal fragments into the cabin, striking occupants. The 2023 model year carries several additional restraint concerns: front seatbelt anchors on 2023-2026 models can detach during a crash and fail to hold occupants in place, and separately, 2023 pretensioners that were serviced may have been damaged in the process and can fail to engage at all in a crash. The 2023-2026 model years also share a forward collision avoidance radar defect where the corner radar falsely detects a vehicle ahead and triggers sudden, unintended braking with no actual hazard present.
On the engine side, 2017-2022 models equipped with the 3.3-liter turbocharged V6 have a recurring oil leak issue at the left turbocharger oil feed pipe. The pipe can deteriorate and allow oil to drip onto hot engine components, raising the risk of an engine compartment fire. This problem generated multiple repair campaigns over the years, with earlier fixes not fully resolving the underlying issue on all affected vehicles, so 2017-2022 owners with the turbo V6 should confirm whether the final remedy has been completed. The 2017-2018 models face a related but distinct version of this concern: the turbocharger oil supply pipe can develop a loose seal and leak oil directly onto the exhaust manifold, also creating a fire risk.
