The 2018 Genesis G90 has 4 recalls, with three of them posing a risk of engine compartment fire: oil leaking from turbocharger supply lines onto hot engine or exhaust components, and a starter solenoid that can short-circuit after water intrusion, even while the vehicle is parked.
All three fire-related issues apply to vehicles with the 3.3-liter turbocharged V6. The oil leak concerns involve the turbocharger's oil feed and supply pipes, which can deteriorate or develop a loose seal and drip oil onto hot surfaces nearby. The starter solenoid issue is separate in cause but similar in consequence, as water getting into the solenoid can trigger an electrical short that starts a fire without warning. The fourth recall involves the windshield and rear window, which may have been bonded with incorrect primer. Over time, that weakened bond can cause either pane to detach while driving, creating a crash hazard.
