Summary
The Genesis G80 has 10 recalls spanning 2015 through 2025, with the most serious being an ABS module that can short circuit and start an underhood fire while the vehicle is parked or moving, affecting 2015-2020 model years.
The 2025 model year has a software fault that can cause the instrument cluster and infotainment displays to reboot while driving, temporarily blanking the speedometer, fuel gauge, and warning lights. The 2023 model year has two related display issues: one where the instrument cluster fails to show readings at startup, and one where low-beam headlights can fail to activate automatically as daylight fades. The 2021-2022 models have a fuel pump that can fail and cut drive power without warning. The 2021 model year also has two separate fuel system concerns, one involving a loose crossover pipe fitting and another affecting the high-pressure fuel line on 2.5-liter turbo engines, either of which can allow fuel to leak and raise the risk of a fire.
Going back to 2018-2019, the passenger seat sensor can misread an empty seat as occupied by an adult, which means the front passenger airbag may fire in a crash when a child or infant is sitting there. The 2018 model year has an additional issue where the windshield and rear window were bonded with incorrect primer, weakening the glass adhesion over time and raising the possibility that either pane separates from the body while driving.
