18 recalls across 12 model years
The Genesis G80 has 18 recalls spanning 2017 through 2026, with the most serious being a fuel leak at the pipe connection between the fuel pipe and fuel rail on 2021–2025 models that can create a fire risk in the engine compartment.
The 2025–2026 model years have a software error that can cause the instrument panel display to go blank while driving, hiding the speedometer, fuel gauge, and warning lights. A separate but related issue on 2025 models can cause the instrument cluster and navigation display to reboot mid-drive, temporarily cutting off the same information. On 2023–2024 models, a similar software fault can cause the instrument panel to fail entirely. The 2023 model year also has a software problem that can prevent the instrument cluster from displaying at startup, and another that can keep low-beam headlamps from activating automatically as ambient light drops.
The 2021–2023 model years have a seatbelt pretensioner defect where the front driver and passenger pretensioners can explode during a crash deployment, sending metal fragments into the cabin. On 2021–2022 models, the fuel pump can fail and cut drive power without warning. A separate fuel tube sealing issue on 2021 models with the 2.5-liter turbo engine can allow fuel to leak near ignition sources. The 2022–2023 model years share an additional fuel pump failure risk that can also cause sudden loss of drive power.
Going back to 2018–2020 models with the 3.3-liter turbocharged V6, the left turbocharger oil feed pipe can deteriorate and leak oil onto hot engine components, raising the risk of an engine fire. The 2018 model year specifically has a windshield and rear window bonding issue where weakened adhesion can allow the glass to detach while driving, and a passenger seat sensor that can misread an empty or child-occupied seat as an adult, potentially deploying the front airbag toward a child in a crash. The 2018 model also shares the turbocharger oil supply pipe fire risk with the 2017–2018 G90.
The 2017–2020 model years have an anti-lock brake module that can short circuit and start an engine compartment fire whether the vehicle is parked or moving. The 2017–2019 models have a starter solenoid that can allow water intrusion, short circuit, and also cause an engine compartment fire while parked or driving. The 2019 model year has a separate airbag system issue where the front passenger airbag may not deactivate when a child is in that seat.
