1996 GMC C SERIES Recalls — Canada & USA

The 1996 GMC C Series has 3 recalls, the most serious being a fuel leak at the fuel rail end plug that can ignite and cause an engine compartment fire. The rear suspension also carries a significant concern: four U-bolt nuts on either side of the rear axle may be under-torqued, allowing the bolts to loosen and fall away. If that happens, the rear axle can shift and feed unintended steering inputs to the vehicle, raising the risk of a crash. On the engine side, the crankshaft balancer's center bolt may also be under-torqued, which can allow the balancer and accessory drive pulley to work loose from the crankshaft, potentially disrupting engine accessories like the alternator and power steering pump.
