1992 GMC G SERIES Recalls — Canada & USA

The 1992 GMC G Series has 4 recalls, the most serious being a suspension defect on G3 models where the lower control arm can crack near the ball joint and eventually allow the ball joint to separate, causing sudden and complete loss of steering control. There are two other mechanical concerns. On the powertrain side, certain vehicles can be started while the transmission is in gear, creating an immediate risk of unintended movement. The brake system on some vehicles has a reduced master cylinder stroke, meaning the hydraulic brakes may not perform adequately if one part of the brake circuit fails. The final recall affects G3 models and is a compliance matter: the emission control information label is missing from the engine bay.
