The 2017 Harley-Davidson FLHTP has two recalls, both carrying crash risk: an oil cooler line that can detach and spray oil onto the rear tire, and a clutch that can fail to disengage.
The oil cooler line is held by a clamp that may not be properly secured, and if the line pulls free, oil can spill directly under the rear wheel, causing a sudden loss of traction. The clutch recall involves the clutch assembly failing to fully release when the lever is pulled, which can make it impossible to separate the engine from the drivetrain and leave the rider unable to control the motorcycle's speed or movement.
