The 2017 Indian Chieftain Dark Horse has two recalls, both involving lighting failures that reduce how well the rider can see and be seen at night or in low-visibility conditions.
The more serious issue involves the Vehicle Control Module's electrical connection, which can fail and cut power to the front lights entirely, including the headlight, leaving the rider without any forward illumination. The second recall involves the headlight assembly itself: some motorcycles were fitted with a European-market halogen headlight rather than the correct US-market unit, which produces a different light pattern and output that may not adequately illuminate the road ahead.
