The 2018 Indian Chieftain Dark Horse has 3 recalls, the most serious being an electrical connection failure in the vehicle control module that can cut power to the front lights, including the headlight, leaving the rider without forward illumination.
A separate electrical recall covers the possibility that the motorcycle can start on its own without rider input; if the bike is parked in an enclosed space when this happens, carbon monoxide can build up to dangerous levels. There is also a headlight concern where certain motorcycles may have been fitted with a European-market halogen headlight assembly rather than the correct US-market unit, producing light output that does not meet domestic standards and can reduce how well the motorcycle is seen or how well the rider sees the road ahead.
