The 2022 Isuzu FVR has 7 recalls, with the most serious being three separate fire risks: a fuel connector that leaks diesel, a fuel heater that can overheat and melt its casing allowing fuel to escape, and a collision warning system camera cable that can damage wiring and overload the electrical circuit.
On the fuel side, the leaking connector can also allow air into the fuel line, causing the engine to stall and increasing the risk of a crash. A separate software issue in the engine control module means the truck may not have engine braking, so stopping distances can be longer than expected on downhill grades. The collision warning system wiring concern also affects turn signals and hazard lights: if the wiring overheats and melts, those signals may stop working, leaving other drivers without warning when the truck turns or changes lanes. On the chassis side, bolts on the rear axle stabilizer bracket can crack and break, dropping the bracket onto the road and creating a hazard for other vehicles.
