The 2008 Isuzu NPR HD has 3 recalls, the most serious being a fuel tank that can corrode and leak, creating a fire risk if fuel contacts an ignition source, and a throttle pedal that can stick at full acceleration, making the truck very difficult to slow or stop.
Both of those issues carry serious consequences. A corroding fuel tank can drip or spray gasoline underneath the vehicle, and any nearby heat source or spark can ignite it. On the acceleration side, this recall applies only to gasoline-engine models: the throttle pedal can wedge itself under a steel stopper bolt and lock in the wide-open position, holding engine speed at maximum even when the driver lifts their foot. The third recall involves the on-board fire extinguisher, which may fail to discharge properly when needed, leaving the driver without a working tool to suppress a fire in the cab or cargo area.
