The 2012 Isuzu NPR HD has 4 recalls, the most serious being a stuck accelerator pedal on gasoline-engine models that can lock the throttle wide open, making the truck extremely difficult to slow or stop.
On gasoline-powered trucks, the throttle pedal can catch under a steel stopper bolt and stay pinned at full throttle, leaving the driver fighting to bring the vehicle to a stop while it continues to accelerate. A separate drivetrain concern affects the left rear wheel: the hub locking bolts may not have been tightened properly at the factory, allowing the entire wheel assembly to work its way outward along the axle. As it shifts out of position, the truck becomes harder to steer predictably and braking distance increases, both of which raise the risk of a crash. There are also two recalls involving the onboard fire extinguisher, which may fail to function correctly if a fire breaks out in or around the truck, leaving the driver without a working means to suppress a fire before it spreads.
