The 2009 Kia Sedona has 5 recalls, the most serious being a fire risk from moisture that can enter the ABS module and cause an electrical short, even with the vehicle parked and turned off.
Two recalls address the front lower control arms, which can corrode and fracture on vehicles in salt-belt states, causing sudden loss of steering control. Prior repair attempts did not fully resolve the issue, which is why two separate campaigns exist for this defect. The hood latch also has a concern: the secondary latch can bind in the open position, and if the primary latch is then released, the hood can fly up while driving and block the driver's view. On the electrical side, a faulty brake light switch can prevent the brake lights from turning on when the pedal is pressed and can also keep cruise control from disengaging, leaving other drivers with no warning that the van is slowing.
