2003 LEXUS LX 470 Recalls — Canada & USA

The 2003 Lexus LX 470 has two recalls, the more serious being a steering shaft that can disconnect after a hard hit to the front wheels, causing sudden and complete loss of steering control. A snap ring on the steering shaft can come loose if the vehicle strikes a deep pothole or similar impact. Once loose, repeated full turns of the steering wheel can work the shaft free over time, leaving the driver with no steering input. On the safety systems side, the roll rate sensors inside the airbag control module can miscalibrate if the vehicle rocks or leans roughly four seconds after the ignition is switched on. A miscalibrated sensor can cause side-curtain or rollover airbags to either deploy when they should not or fail to deploy when they should.
