The 2022 Lexus LX has 4 recalls, with the most serious issues being an engine that can stall without warning and lose all drive power, and a transmission that can allow the vehicle to roll unexpectedly when the gear selector is in neutral.

The engine concern affects LX models equipped with the V35A engine, where manufacturing debris can work its way into the engine and damage the main bearings. When those bearings fail, the engine stalls and the vehicle loses the ability to accelerate or maintain speed, leaving the driver with reduced control in traffic. The transmission issue is separate: when the vehicle is placed in neutral and the brakes are not applied, the transmission can allow unintended movement, meaning the vehicle may roll in an unexpected direction without the driver commanding it.

On the safety equipment side, the front passenger seat on certain LX vehicles has a gap issue between the seat frame and its stopper that causes the passenger seat sensor to misread who or what is sitting there. In a crash, that misreading can cause the passenger airbag to deploy with the wrong force for the occupant, or not at all, raising the risk of injury to whoever is in that seat.
