The 2018 Mercedes-Benz GLC Class has 4 recalls, the most serious involving a starter power cable that can contact the starter housing, short circuit, and start a fire or cause the engine to stall without warning.
Two recalls involve the airbag system. On AMG GLC 63 S models, a software issue in the airbag control unit can delay deployment of the front passenger airbag in a crash, raising the risk of injury to that occupant. On vehicles with the Audio 20 head unit and automatic child seat recognition, the passenger airbag status display can show incorrect information, such as indicating the airbag is off when it is actually active, which could lead to a child being seated in front of a live airbag. The fourth recall affects vehicles with LED headlamps, where the front turn signal lamps can emit pink or violet light rather than the required amber, reducing how clearly other drivers can read the signals.
