The 2015 Toyota Yaris has 7 recalls, the most serious involving suspension defects where a front strut bearing can fail after hitting a large bump, potentially causing the strut rod to separate and the driver to lose vehicle stability.
There is a second suspension concern affecting the rear: bolts securing the rear axle hub bearing assembly may not have been properly tightened, and if they loosen while driving, the rear wheel can lock up or the rear brakes can be damaged and lose effectiveness. These two suspension issues are treated as separate manufacturing periods, so not all vehicles are affected by both. On the safety equipment side, wiring to the side airbag sensors inside the front doors can corrode over time, which may prevent the front seat-mounted side airbags and curtain shield airbags from deploying correctly in a crash; the airbag warning light will typically illuminate when this happens. One recall applies only to vehicles sold or registered in Puerto Rico: the roof headliner in those vehicles may not meet impact protection requirements, raising the risk of head injury in a crash.
