The 2012 Triumph Tiger 800 has 3 recalls, the most serious involving the optional accessory center stand, where a faulty return spring can break and allow the stand to drop and drag along the road while riding, creating a significant crash risk.
On the equipment side, certain motorcycles fitted with the optional top box may be missing a clip in the locking mechanism, allowing the box to detach from the bike while underway. A top box coming loose at speed can strike following traffic and raise the risk of a collision. There is also a lighting concern: the mounting supports for both the front and rear turn signal lamps can break, leaving the lamp assemblies hanging from their wiring. Signals in that condition may not be visible or positioned correctly, making it unclear to other drivers when the rider intends to turn.
