The 2023 Volvo VHD has 5 recalls, the most serious involving steering gear fasteners that may not be properly tightened, which can cause loss of vehicle control and raise the risk of a crash.
The passenger side bench seat may not be adequately secured to the floor, and the attachment points can fail during a crash, allowing the seat to shift. On certain trucks equipped with RollTek driver seats, a missing circuit can prevent the side curtain airbag from deploying in a crash. There is also an electronic control unit recall affecting trucks with Bendix EC80 units, where electrical interference can cause the controller to misprocess commands or stop functioning entirely, disabling safety systems including anti-lock brakes, automatic traction control, electronic stability control, and collision mitigation. The final recall covers the windshield wiper motor, whose gears can wear out prematurely and leave the wipers inoperative, reducing visibility in wet conditions.
