The 2020 Zero SR/F has 3 recalls, the most serious involving rear brake rotor bolts that can loosen over time, contact the swingarm or caliper, and reduce braking ability to the point of increasing stopping distance and crash risk. The brake light switch is also a concern: water can get into the front brake switch and cause it to fail, meaning the brake light will not illuminate when the rider squeezes the front brake lever. Drivers behind the motorcycle may not realize it is slowing down.

Defect

On certain motorcycles, the rear brake rotor bolts may not have been tightened properly. As a result, the bolts could loosen over time and contact the rear swingarm or brake caliper bracket. This can cause reduced braking. Note: A rider may hear an abnormal noise if a bolt contacts the rear swingarm.

Safety Risk

Reduced braking can cause an increased stopping distance and create the risk of a crash.

Remedy

Zero Motorcycles will notify owners by mail and instruct you to take your motorcycle to a dealer to inspect and re-tighten the rear brake rotor bolts. Any damaged bolts will be replaced.
