On certain vehicles equipped with a manual parking brake, the electrical switch which illuminates the parking brake warning light in the instrument cluster could become corroded. This could result in the parking brake warning light intermittently not illuminating when the parking brake is applied. A failure of the parking brake indicator to illuminate when the parking brake is applied can result in a driver misapplication of the parking brake, which may cause the following conditions: effect on vehicle acceleration, parking brake noise and/or parking brake “drag” and smoke and/or smell from driving with the applied parking brake.
Safety Risk
No risk description available.
Remedy
Dealers will replace the parking brake switch with a switch that revised contact material.

On certain vehicles, due to a programming error of the automatic light control system, the headlights and tail lights may not automatically illuminate in low and ambient light when the headlight switch is placed in the "Auto Position". Under this condition, only the daytime running lights are illuminated. In low ambient light, the vehicle would become difficult to see, especially from vehicles behind, since no headlights (low beams) and tail lights are illuminated, increasing the risk of a accident.
On certain vehicles, when driving at low speeds or idling on a downward grade, with ¼ tank or less of fuel, an error in the fuel pump control program may restrict fuel supply to the engine, which could cause the engine to stall. Engine stalling would result in lost vehicle propulsion which, in conjunction with traffic and road conditions, and the driver's reactions, could increase the risk of a crash causing property damage and/or personal injury.
Safety Risk
No risk description available.
Remedy
Dealers will reprogram the Engine Control Module.
